6000 kilometres - from Osh to Beijing

Bigger map in PDF

Just like Mannerheim a hundred years ago, we will start in Osh in Kyrgyzstan. As Mannerheim we will make the journey in two parts.

Mannerheim's original map

Part I - we start in Osh in Kyrgyzstan 30.7.2006
The same day as Mannerheim started his expedition a hundred years ago.

The valley on the picture above is where our journey will start.
We will ride from Osh, cross over the Pamir/ Tien Shan mountains towards Kashi in China.
We are supposed to arrive in Kashi at the turn of the month August and September.

We arrived in Kashi as planned and are now back in Finland. Read about the first part of our journey in the blog.

Part II - Kashi-Beijing - starts in March 2007
Our expedition routecontinues more or less along
the northern Silk Road to the cities of Aksu,
Urumchi and Turpan.
From there onwards we ride in the direction south east to Hami, Langzou, continuing along the yellow river towards Zengzou.
Then northbound towards Beijing where we should be in the first days of January 2008.
