In 1906-08, the Lieutenant Colonel, future President Carl Gustaf
Emil Mannerheim, rode through Asia on a mission commissioned by Csar
Nicholas II.
We propose to do the same journey on horseback
one hundred years later, with more or less the same number of people
who will make up our crew.
This will be a good opportunity to
make comparisons between circumstances now and then. How things have
changed, in what way, and why. An important emphasis will be to
find out what specific strains and pressures one gets exposed to during
an expedition such as this. Of great interest is also the social
aspect; the lifestyle of nomads, how their administration and local
governments function. Also, how missionary activities are functioning
today.

We will likewise observe the situation of children and women in today’s China.

All of this will be in comparison with Mannerheim’s observations a hundred years ago.
If you want to learn more about Mannerheim's expedition you'll find infomation here.
One
film documentary, to be in four parts, will be produced. Also, a series
for radio, and one book plus a great amount of photos, many of these
taken on the same spots as Mannerheim took his.
